The Sun is an independent, ad-free monthly magazine that has been active for more than thirty years. It’s URL is http://www.thesunmagazine.org/. This is a magazine that Julianne likes a lot and one that those of us in the family think well of too. Julianne is my second oldest child, and the oldest girl. The letter is written in response to an article called “Oh Baby” which concerns the latest issue raised against women by one of our political parties (The Republican Party, and even more particularly the far right members of that group).

RE: “Oh Baby”
In 1957 my mother fought with her doctor for the right to a natural childbirth in the hospital with a midwife present. She believed women’s bodies to be fully capable of giving birth with little assistance if allowed to do so and desperately wanted the birth of her second child to include the full experience, unaltered, undiluted. She knew with certainty she could do this.
In 1960, after the birth my sister, Mom became a test case for the birth control pill. She believed it would provide women with the ability to take control of their destinies. Mom stuffed envelopes for the civil rights movement, assisted with the organizing of anti-war events and read everything she could get her hands on. You have never heard of her - she was a daily revolutionary, changing the world one act at a time.
It changed just a little bit in 1955 when she insisted her name be on the title to my parents' new car, despite the salesman's insistence that, "Women can't own property!" It budged a bit when she threatened to remove her pants (I'm sure she would have) if the women at the university library return desk continued to follow their policy, "We don't wait on women in pants." It changed for us when she empowered my 10 year old sister to challenge and change the dress code so she could wear pants to school and when she taught her daughters to insist on our right to a good education, to be unafraid of menstruation and to “always remember, females are the only ones capable of creating life.”
I won’t be showing Pat McNulty’s interview of Ina May Gaskin to Mom. It would make her sad to know that not only are child birthing norms no further ahead 55 years later, they seem to be significantly behind. She hoped her accomplishment – forcing the point, not giving birth “naturally” – would assist in the resurgence of the use of midwives and a return to unfettered birthing. She never sought the lime lite, but at 77, Martha Cuneo still relishes in telling the world about the astonished looks of the hospital staff as she carried me, new and still damp, to the waiting room to meet my dad.

Gucci iPhone 6 Cases (Friday, 22 May 2015 03:53)
It is difficult to talk about an HTC One phone without recounting how the first iteration of the device set the benchmark for build quality and design among Android flagships.
Louis Vuitton iPhone 6 Wallet Case (Tuesday, 29 September 2015 10:27)
When it comes to random reads and writes, the iPhone drops back several positions and Android devices take out the top. The authors do note that this is likely due to a bottleneck in their testing processes, rather than a limitation of the storage technology.
